When carrying out work at height, there are occasions when this does not necessarily imply operators ascending to the workplace, but rather moments when they must descend, as there are structures and installations that can only be accessed from higher points. To this end, we have incorporated the Negative Mobile Elevating Work Platforms, also known as PEMP-N, which allow work to be carried out at negative relative levels (below the truck's support level) comfortably and safely. At Transgruma we have a range of negative runways with various capacities to be able to work on cable-stayed bridges, working between the arches of small historic bridges, dam bodies, port docks, etc. Use of the equipment PEMP-N it is also possible on bridges with road safety barrier systems and acoustic protection.
The gangways are truck-mounted and require only a few minutes for complete deployment from the stowed position to the working position. Only after complete deployment can operators access the working gangway via the corresponding protected access point, from where they can communicate with the operator controlling the vehicle from the bridge using a radio intercom system or video camera. The walkway is mounted on the lower part of the vertical tower, being able to rotate up to 180° below the bridge (± 90°), allowing it to work transversely or longitudinally with respect to the bridge or viaduct deck.
The manoeuvre of moving the unit forwards/backwards along the bridge with the gangway deployed in the working position is controlled from the control panel on the gangway, with the authorisation of the driver located in the vehicle's cab.
These inspection and maintenance platform models guarantee a safe, fast and economical system of access to various structures where negative work is required.
The stabilisation system consists of a rolling stabiliser located on the right-hand side of the vehicle, which allows the truck to move at a constant speed along the bridge or viaduct with personnel on board the working walkway, thereby increasing work productivity. The vehicle can move along the track with the walkway deployed (in the working position). Speed: 10 m/min.
The truck cab is fitted with a video camera system installed within it, which allows the working platform to be viewed in real time. Likewise, the MEWP-N has a radio intercommunication system between the working platform and the vehicle cab. In this way, the operator in the truck cab and the operatives on the working platform are in continuous communication while carrying out these tasks and during intermediate movements of the MEWP-N.

The vehicle incorporates a 950 l/min hydraulic compressor with a 10.5 bar pressure air intake, to facilitate maintenance and repair work for operators using pneumatic tools or spray guns to paint the structure of the bridge or viaduct, port dock, etc. *Included in model PEMP-N 150/160 – 170/190
Lighting system for night work or work in low visibility conditions on the work walkway, the vertical turret, the operator access ladder to the work walkway and underneath the vehicle to increase safety during the work to be carried out.

Inside the walkway we will position a manual scaffold with the capacity to lift one person (120 kg) up to a height of 2.0 m above the walkway floor (up to a working height of 4.0 metres), which allows personnel access to the interior of the spaces between the bridge deck beams.
